Always check rolls of stretch film for any of the following defects:
Possible Defects | End Result |
---|---|
Spots: Spots are caused by bad resin or poor mixing
Black specks are from foreign material or charred plastic White spots are caused by additive build-up on cast stretch film |
Stretch film breaks during stretching |
Collapsed Cores: the rolls of pallet wrap are wound too tightly, crushing the paper | Mounting the stretch film roll becomes difficult |
Telescoping: Caused by high tackifier levels or poor winding conditions | Core slides out of the roll |
Wrinkling: caused by poor transition winding | Wrinkled stretch film |
Edge Defects: caused by film layers that extend past the end of the roll | Stretch film tearing and failure |
Gauge Bands: these are hard, thick bands of film caused by poor gauge control | Hard, thick bands of stretch wrap that can be difficult to remove |
