Always check rolls of stretch film for any of the following defects:

Possible Defects End Result
Spots: Spots are caused by bad resin or poor mixing

Black specks are from foreign material or charred plastic

White spots are caused by additive build-up on cast stretch film
Stretch film breaks during stretching
Collapsed Cores: the rolls of pallet wrap are wound too tightly, crushing the paper Mounting the stretch film roll becomes difficult
Telescoping: Caused by high tackifier levels or poor winding conditions Core slides out of the roll
Wrinkling: caused by poor transition winding Wrinkled stretch film
Edge Defects: caused by film layers that extend past the end of the roll Stretch film tearing and failure
Gauge Bands: these are hard, thick bands of film caused by poor gauge control Hard, thick bands of stretch wrap that can be difficult to remove
