Defining VCI.

VCI stretch film protects metal parts against the corrosive effects of moisture, salt, and other contaminants while they are in process, storage or transit.

Not all VCI products are created equal and often, one VCI formulation that works under one set of conditions will not work under another. One has to take into account all aspects of the manufacturing process, metals composition, packaging, storage and shipping conditions in order to select the right packaging media and VCI formulation.

VCI film products (including VCIpackaging,VCI poly, VCI stretch film, VCI shrink film, VCI films for corrosion resistance, and VCI classic films)provide proven corrosion protection. The corrosion inhibitors are extruded directly into the polyethylene film. As a result, the volatile and contact inhibitors provide long-term corrosion protection that is clean, non-discernible, and odorless.

Through volatilization and contact, the VCI chemicals protect metal parts against the corrosive effects of moisture, salt, and other contaminants while they are in process, storage or transit. VCI film is transparent for easy inspection and identification of parts. It will not affect the performance of the protected metal, and the parts are ready to use immediately after removal from the packaging without additional cleaning needed.

VCI protection is a function of:

• Metals in need of protection
• Corrosion inhibiting chemicals used and their effectiveness on the metals
• Ratio of chemicals in the formulation
• Amount of VCI on the paper or found in the film
• pH of the finished product
• Water solubility and the effectiveness of the corrosion inhibitor in the presence of moisture and/or high humidity.
• Natural neutral kraft paper or polyethylene film used as the carrier for the VCI product.
• The overall packaging design and the conditions expected during the each phase of the workflow - including the packing, shipping, and storing.

VCI Stretch Film.

VCI stretch film offers the same handling ease as polyethylene. The VCI stretch wrap is strong, stretchable, and stays in place. VCI stretch film provide excellent clarity and cling. It is ideal for rust prevention for odd-shaped and/or large metal parts during storage and shipment.

Available in 1 mil rolls of 18" and 20" widths, 1,500 ft and 4,500 ft lengths.
